Every story has an ending. If yours with OurDream AI has reached its conclusion, this guide walks you through the proper closing chapters: cancel your subscription first, export what you want to keep, then close the account permanently.

The critical sequence matters: cancel before you delete. Deleting your account without cancelling your subscription first can result in continued billing against an account you can no longer access. The story of account deletion starts with the subscription chapter, not the deletion chapter.

Before You Delete: What You Will Lose

The permanent deletion story includes losing:

• All characters you've created — every character built, their appearance, personality, backstory, and voice configuration
• Conversation history — the 100-message rolling memory, every chapter of every story you've had with your companions
• Lorebook entries — world-building documents you've written
• Remaining DreamCoins — OurDream AI's in-app virtual currency. Any unspent coins are permanently forfeited. There are no refunds for unused coin balances upon account deletion.
• Community characters you've shared — your contributions to the 7 million+ character library

If any of these elements have creative value to you, export or document them before starting the deletion process. Screenshots of key conversations, copied backstory text, and character appearance notes are the manual archiving story — OurDream AI does not provide an automated data export tool as of May 2026.

Step 1 — Cancel Your Subscription

This is the non-negotiable first chapter. Navigate to:

Account Settings → Subscription → Cancel Plan

Follow the cancellation flow to completion. You'll receive a confirmation email — save it. Your subscription benefits continue until the end of the current paid period; the cancellation stops the next billing cycle.

Step 2 — Wait Out Your Paid Period (Optional but Recommended)

After cancellation, your paid access continues until the billing period ends. If you have remaining DreamCoins and creative projects you want to complete, this is your window. The story of your characters continues until the last day of your paid period.

If you want a clean break, you can proceed to deletion immediately after cancellation confirmation — you simply forfeit whatever paid access remains.

Step 3 — Delete the Account

With subscription cancelled, the deletion story proceeds:

Account Settings → Privacy/Security → Delete Account

You'll encounter a confirmation step — OurDream AI, like most platforms, requires deliberate confirmation before permanent deletion. Read the confirmation carefully: it will tell you exactly what data will be destroyed.

Confirm deletion. The account closure is immediate once confirmed. There is no recovery after this step.

After Deletion: What Happens

• Email address freed immediately for new account creation if desired
• Account data scheduled for deletion per OurDream AI's data retention policy (US/EU jurisdiction under Dream Studio USA, Inc. and TEKTOPIA LTD, Cyprus HE 473775)
• Subscription billing stopped from next cycle forward
• Characters you shared with the community may remain in the community library (check community guidelines for specifics)
